Question
Is Kadraa a recruitment agency or an Employer of Record?
Neither, and the distinction is the whole point. Kadraa does the recruitment, like an agency would, and also provides the vehicle you engage the person through, which an agency does not. The consultant contracts with Kadraa rather than with you, so no employment relationship ever reaches your business, and you pay one monthly fee rather than a placement fee plus everything that follows it.
What a recruitment agency does
An agency finds a candidate, charges a one-off placement fee, and steps away. From that point the contract, the payments and all of the risk are yours. And because you cannot employ someone in South Africa from the UK, you would be contracting with them directly, drawing up the agreement yourself and sending money abroad every month.
If it falls apart after the replacement window, you pay a new fee and start again.
What an Employer of Record does
An EOR becomes the legal employer of your worker in their country and then rents that employment back to you, typically for a platform fee on top of the salary. It is a reasonable tool for a large company opening operations in a new country.
For a UK business that wants one good marketer or one developer, it is a lot of machinery, and you are still running the commercial relationship yourself.
What Kadraa does instead
We recruit the person, contract with them directly in South Africa, and deploy them into your business under a service level agreement. You direct the work. We carry the contract, the payroll, the foreign transactions, the administration and any HR matter, including ending an engagement.
You get the recruitment capability of an agency and a compliant route to engage the person, without becoming anybody's employer and without a placement fee.
For completeness: we do still offer standard contingency recruitment for clients who would rather contract with the person directly. That is a one-off fee of 20% of the candidate's annual salary with three-month replacement terms. Most clients prefer the monthly model, but the option exists and we will tell you plainly which one suits your situation.
